How this calculator works
A step-up SIP (also called a top-up SIP) increases your monthly investment by a fixed percentage every year, instead of keeping it flat. In year y, your monthly SIP amount is: Monthly SIP (year y) = Initial amount × (1 + step-up% )(y − 1).
For each year, this calculator computes the future value of that year's 12 monthly instalments using the standard SIP formula, then compounds the running balance forward at your expected annual return. Contributions made in earlier years get more years to grow than contributions made later — that compounding, on top of a growing contribution amount, is what makes a step-up SIP build a larger corpus than a flat SIP of the same starting amount.
This is a nominal projection — it doesn't adjust for inflation, and the entered return rate is an assumption you choose, not a guarantee.
Year-by-year contribution schedule
Based on your current inputs, here's how your monthly SIP amount grows each year, and how much you invest in total that year.

Talk to a CA →What is a step-up SIP?
A step-up SIP (also called a top-up SIP) is a systematic investment plan where you increase your monthly investment amount by a fixed percentage every year, instead of investing the same fixed amount throughout. It's designed to let your investments grow in line with your rising income.
Why increase my SIP every year?
Increasing your SIP each year keeps your investing pace in line with rising income, and has historically been shown to build meaningfully larger corpuses than flat SIPs over long investment periods, since more money gets invested and each additional rupee still has time to compound.
Is the step-up automatic with my mutual fund?
Only if you specifically set up a step-up SIP mandate with your fund house or through your investment platform. A regular SIP mandate does not increase on its own — you need to either set up a step-up SIP explicitly or manually increase your SIP amount each year.
Does this account for inflation?
No — this is a nominal, non-inflation-adjusted projection. The final corpus shown is in future rupees, not adjusted for the reduced purchasing power those rupees will have by the time you reach your goal.
