How this calculator works
This calculator uses the standard reducing-balance EMI formula that Indian banks, including HDFC, use for home loans: EMI = P × r × (1+r)n / ((1+r)n − 1), where P is your loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), and n is the number of monthly instalments (tenure in years × 12).
The interest rate field is a plain editable input, not a fixed HDFC figure. HDFC's actual home loan interest rate depends on your loan amount, credit score, employment type, and the date you apply — and it changes periodically. This tool does not know, assume, or assert HDFC's current rate. Visit hdfcbank.com to check HDFC's currently published rate, then enter it above to get an estimate tailored to that rate.
The defaults shown (₹40,00,000 loan, 8.75% rate, 20-year tenure) are illustrative example numbers only, chosen to demonstrate typical home loan parameters — they are not a quote, offer, or representation of any rate HDFC currently charges.

Book a Consultation →What is HDFC's current home loan interest rate?
This calculator doesn't assume or publish a specific HDFC rate — HDFC's home loan rates change periodically and vary by loan amount, credit score, and employment type. Check hdfcbank.com for the current published rate, then enter it here to get your estimate.
What's a typical home loan tenure in India?
Home loan tenures in India commonly range from 15 to 30 years, though the exact figure depends on the lender, your age, and your income. There's no single universal tenure — choose one that fits your repayment capacity.
Does this EMI include processing fees?
No — the EMI shown here reflects only principal and interest. HDFC and other lenders charge processing fees, and sometimes other charges, separately at disbursal, which aren't included in this calculation.
What's the difference between fixed and floating home loan rates?
A fixed rate stays the same for the loan term (or a set period), while a floating rate moves up or down with the bank's benchmark lending rate. Enter your current applicable rate either way — this calculator computes your EMI for whatever rate you provide, at a single point in time.
