Documents required for GST LUT filing (Form RFD-11)

Quick Answer

Filing an LUT itself is a self-declaration on the GST portal, so it doesn't require document uploads the way many other GST filings do. But you (or whoever files it for you) will need your GST registration certificate, PAN, the authorized signatory's ID and digital signature or EVC access, and the names, occupations, and addresses of two independent witnesses.

What the RFD-11 form itself asks for

The form auto-populates your GSTIN and legal business name from your GST portal login. Beyond that, it asks you to select the financial year you're filing for, confirm a set of self-declaration checkboxes, and provide witness details — there's no document upload step built into the form itself.

Documents to keep ready

Even though nothing gets uploaded to the portal, you (or whoever is filing on your behalf) should have on hand: your GST registration certificate; PAN of the business or proprietor; Aadhaar or PAN of the authorized signatory, along with DSC or EVC access to actually sign the form; and the names, occupations, and addresses of two independent witnesses — often employees, or the same witnesses used on a prior LUT or bond. If you're a goods exporter and already have an IEC code, keep a copy of that too.

For renewals

If you're filing an LUT for a subsequent financial year rather than for the first time, having the prior year's LUT and ARN handy speeds up the process — though the portal doesn't formally require it as a renewal document.

What you don't need

Most entities don't need a board resolution specifically for LUT filing, and the GST portal itself doesn't ask for a CA certificate. If you're using a filing service, they may ask for basic KYC documents purely to confirm your identity and authorization — that's a service-provider requirement, not a portal one.

Frequently Asked Question

Do I need to upload any documents on the GST portal to file an LUT?

Not usually. Form RFD-11 is largely a self-declaration with checkboxes and witness details, verified with your DSC or EVC. Supporting documents are things you or your filer should have ready, not attachments the portal requires.
